Playing with camera "partial color" settings

Fooled around today with my camera's "partial color" setting, where it will take a black and white photo but retain only a single color which can be set to either red, blue, green or yellow. Kinda cool, I'll definitely be experimenting with this more.

Hey Bill that's neat!:) One of these days I'd be happy to demo how to achieve the same effect via post processing in Photoshop (starting with any colored photos):thumbup

More camera fun today on Pleasants Vly Rd and 128, using the camera's "partial color" menu set to blue which also picked up the blue sky. But this time of year with the vibrant green grass and wildflowers, full color mode is hard to beat.

For those of us who don't want to pay for PhotoShop what other software can create this effect?

So basically any software which allows for desaturation (removes the "color information") as well as the ability to work in layers would accomplish a very similar effect. For example (rights to all photos below belong to Bill aka CB500guy - my apologies for painting over them to make a point:))

Take one of my favorite colored photos from Bill

I created a desaturated top layer to remove color, then masked out the frame sections on that layer to allow for the original reds to pop through:

Having this tool at their disposal potentially allows skilled photographers like Bill more control to try out multiple combinations on the computer with just a few clicks of the mouse, let's say he only wanted to contrast the green hues with the blue:

But seeing Bill doing things the old school way, color me very impressed
