Pinlock insert for HJC hj-17 shield

Recently bought an HJC IS Max 2 modular helmet with pinlock-ready face shield (HJ-17)

Bought a Pinlock 70 insert at cycle gear. (pn#19-110)
https://pinlock.com/product/pinlock-70-hjc-dks088/

The problem is the top edge of the insert is in my field of vision.

I also see others have similar complaint online,
"It's a smaller field of vision. Don't let your chin droop too much or you'll be looking out through the line at the top edge of the insert (pretty distracting). I'd actually recommend that you take note of which part (vertically) of your existing visor you tend to look through while riding, and if it's near the top you may have a problem with the pinlock system."

Any other options?

Here's a pic of my shield with the insert installed. Notice the gap at the top.

Another thing I noticed is there are two notches per side on my insert. Not sure why it's like that. (I use the lower notch)

I bought a pin lock as well for mine and while I didn’t notice the line the new visor is louder than the old one.

its possible your helmet is too big. u shouldn't be looking through that part of the visor. maybe if u were in a full tuck w/ your helmet on the tank, maybe not. u can also try replacing the crown padding with thicker versions.

ive used inserts on the HJC FG-17 with no vision issues, even at the race track. I did use HJC's inserts, not the Pinlock ones. they fit perfectly into the recess of the visor and would probably be less noticeable.

^ I think your shield have a different design to accommodate a larger insert. Also, I dont think HJC makes inserts.

The reason my pinlock insert doesn't extend to the top edge of the shield is because it would scrape against the inner seal of the helmet.

Went to cycle gear, they have Shuberth helmet that comes with pinlock insert stock. It's has a better designed shield that allows the pinlock insert to extend to the top edge of the shield.

Too bad it's $800...

ok, I figured it out.
Pinlock have a better insert called Max Vision, where the inserts are bigger and go all the way to the edge of the shield. This requires a specially designed shield.

Only certain helmets have this.

The HJC RPHA MAX modular have this feature. As well as others.
