Phone Spammers

2strokeYardSale

Moab on my mind
Yesterday I got a phone call from my local area code, but not my phone's prefix (always spoofers), so I answered. A person asked for Dusty, then apologized and said my number would be removed from all contacts. Thus started the flood of spam texts and calls from various spoofed numbers. Some of the texts even said, "Dusty you've won a prize" or something. It went on all day and continued this morning.

Android is so shitty I can't even block numbers of known spammers, all I can do is add them to contacts and send them directly to voice mail. It seems I can't do jack shit about texts.

Help?

I will have to look at blocking them.. tech savvy me did not know I could..:laughing

I get so many I only pick up certain area codes and some numbers I f'ing recognize and don't pick up.

On my Android I block them with Mr. Number app but like you said it does no good because you're not blocking them, you're blocking the legitimate numbers they are spoofing. When I call the number back either the person on the other end has no clue what I'm talking about as they didn't make the call or it goes to a number not in service. I have no idea what to do either as I get at least 10 of these spoofed calls per day since my business line is forwarded to my cell!! Not so much texts but a few here and there. Look forward to a solution.

As a rule, I don't answer any phone number I don't instantly recognize unless I'm keenly waiting on something that may be coming from a stranger.

The highlight of this was when I got a phone call from my own cell number.

Thankfully, I don't get many texts.

On the Android, go to your call history, press and hold for a second or two and a new window should show up a list of options, and one of them, should be the option of blocking number.
Since I don't know which Android you have here is a list of brands.
FYI, Android is not shitty and google is your friend :thumbup

That worked on my wife's old phone, which I think was 4.something, but doesn't seem to work on 5.1.

Pretty much how I handle it. I don't get many spam calls on my personal phone but my work phone gets them pretty regularly. Work recently gave us Galaxy S9 phones. My first android experience. I have blocked numbers on it. Not as simple as iOS but doable.

I'm not saying it was Russians...

But it was Russians.

Seriously though, it may be your phone, your OS, your provider, or some combo. My outdated android samsung blocks fine, but better than that is tmobile's new efforts to combat spam calls and texts.
