Hi,

Are there people/organizations that can help me become a better rider on my own bike? Where I can get 1-on-1 attention, be told what I do wrong and how I can enhance? The goal of this exercise of me becoming a better rider on my bike, not generally a better rider (which I assume would come as by-product anyway).

Hi Anton,

There are several groups within the Bay Area that can help enhance your skills. Could you be a bit more informative of what skills you are trying to enhance and I'm sure that many of us can offer you some great suggestions.

I am not looking for suggestions per se, I am looking for someone to most likely go to a track with, watch me ride and as day progresses keep pointing out my mistakes and tell me what to do better so I can learn and ride my bike faster/smoother.

I cant measure up my skills in any way, as I've never taken my bike to a track, but I've been riding since 2004.

Also the key here is I am not looking to race my bike, I'm looking to enhance my own skills on my own bike.

I hope this makes sense.

Pretty much all of the track providers have coaches available all day for 1 on 1 during your sessions.

But if you're looking for street riding tips, low speed maneuvering, etc, that's not really a track focus.

so what are the names of the groups/organizations that I can contact and inquire :thumbup ?

I'm totally fine with low speed maneuvers and riding on the street, I need help with understanding my bike better in controlled environment, where I can learn more on how to be a better rider on my bike. It's a play of words in a sense, but the bottom line I would like sort of personalized help.

z2trackdays, keigwins@track, pacific track time, fun trackdayz - I've been with z2 and keigwins, z2 seems to be much more noob friendly :)

Yeah, then you're definitely after attending a track day with one of the providers mentioned above.

If you can do a Ken Hill day with Keigwins, I'd recommend that.

Otherwise probably Z2 for their regular classroom sessions at all their trackdays for the noobs. KazMan runs them occasionally, or he's out instructing.

I'm doing my first weekend with PTT this weekend so I don't know how their program is structured yet.

Trackdays are certainly good learning opportunities.

Other learning opportunities include:
Total control IRC and ARC that are offered at many CMSP ranges. I know they offer the IRC and ARC in Vallejo.

The Alameda County Sheriff course is highly rated. I haven't been able to attend one yet.

Coach Can (AKA Superbike Coach) teaches courses on go cart tracks and they are great learning opportunities as well.

There is no one size fits all here as everyone is different in what they want/need.

If you are willing to come to Merced, I will work with you one on one and I don't charge anything. I do it because I enjoy it.

We can even play on my flat track if that is something you need.

If I were working with you, we would talk and I would try to figure out what it is that is holding you back and address that need/deficit. There are many things that can help solve a problem with riding once you identify the problem.

Keigwins Ken hill 2 day school in october, there are some passes for sale in trackdays for $600-700. Or you can buy in yourself for $800. 2 days. 1 on 1 instruction and coaching with in classroom stuff from ken hill.

The beginner group would be perfect even if you have no track experience.
