Pass - Swerve - Brake - Crash

Posting this in Racers Corner rather than Moto Videos because I want the discussion of this audience. What do you think about this move?

(I can't figure out how to embed the player and have it start at the right time. Skip to 3:21 for the goods.)

Captain dickhead gave notice of being a terrible rider at 1:30 as well. That was his first pass/brake check.

I noticed the camera bike deftly swerved to the inside for the re-pass at 1:30, I wonder why he didn't go for the same move again the second time.

Sad...hopefully they both learned something. So many riders struggle with spatial awareness, especially after completing a pass. It's like they just forget that other things exist, like playing a video game... :(

Hey! :twofinger

This does look like an example of what can happen with poor spatial awareness. The camera bike was turning his head looking for this tool in the corner leading up to the crash. Probably because like Nate said, it happened more than once in this video. The tool passes on the gas then goes right to the brakes immediately after taking over the camera bike's line.

Thanks for sharing thedub, I know I have gone to the brakes after passing. I don't believe it was as bad as this video but it sure is going to make me think about how and where I pass.

:laughing But on a positive, you are just one of many :twofinger :rofl

Well I don't think he was looking for the tool hope he was looking for anyone as he just blew his corner and should make sure it's clear when coming back onto the racing line.

But this is why many organizations and TDP's discuss no swooping. In another era, respectful racing was that if you forced a pass, you at least had enough respect to leave them a bit of room so they or you both didn't crash out. And if you did it, you really just didn't like them.

Nowadays, racers will pass on the inside and then drive all the way to the curbing forcing others off the track. :( And claim it as that's racing, don't like it quit. There are way fewer riders I am willing to ride close to nowadays because of ability to hold a line and or having respect for each other.

dick move. not entirely unexpected, but still a dick move.

passer braked early-ish. he probably lost track of where he was on track or maybe he was a little freaked by the extra speed from the draft. +1 to just stay inside when passing that close to the braking marker.

passee had one out: pay attention to when the passer gets on the brakes and dont be late. unfortunately he tried to wait for his normal marker that was 20ft further up. its not his fault at all, but a tiny bit avoidable.

does it look like the passee did something funny w/ his braking fingers? like they slipped off the lever or something?

Passer should have
a) not swooped over
b) held a slightly inside line

Passee maybe could have expected this move if he knew that rider was prone to doing that, but it really shouldn't have been his responsibility.

Lame rider makes a lame pass. I feel bad for the dude who got taken out by that bullshit. What's the deal with these fools who can't corner for shit but use every straight away as an opportunity to pass people who are clearly faster than them on every other part of the track???

I noticed that too. I was thinking he should have covered his brake the instant he was getting passed going into the braking zone.

All this. Too common lately.

Passer made a total dick move. It's inexcusable to come back over that soon after a pass.

Very bad move. And I see far too many riders doing this even when they aren't making a pass...going in tight then swerving out wide just before braking. Hey if you go in tight for whatever reason, no worries, just hold your line. Yes you may have to slow down a little more to make the apex. But you will not be taking someone out that may be planning to pass you on the straightaway approaching the corner.

Hate to say it , but I think you may (by Milimeters) have been able to avoid him. Watch your right hand/glove as you go down the front strait. Notice the green under it. When he passes you, notice how the pavement starts to appear under your glove as you move in behind him. Not sure is you were thinking about going to his left or you got target fixated.
None the less, that sucks.
I did really like the lines and speed you carried through the corners.
Hope you are okay.

When he tried the pass at 1:30 he was on the brakes way before you. As soon as he passed the last time I would have gone left, knowing he was going to brake early.
That was not a cool move.
Did he crash?
