Parking issue with another rider with vandalism

Recently there has been another rider parking in the same area of my block. Most of the time I parked in a spot that is large enough for at least 2 bikes to park with generous space in between. The other rider has decided that to park directly in the center of the space leaving just enough room to park my bike next to him, but it is tighter then needed.
I came home from work today, to find that he wrote a message in the dust on my tank, and knocked my mirror forward, cracking my upper fairing. The note said, "dont park so close". The fairing will cost me about $150+ to replace. Hopefully the tank isn't scratched.
I don't see his bike out there tonight, otherwise I would have already left a passive aggressive note on it. If I had definitive proof that he did it, I would have already reported him to the police, but sadly I do not.
What should I do about this? Leave a note, eye for an eye or worse?

What if it was a car that knocked your bike over because it was too close to the space marker?

What makes you think it was the other rider?

Talk to the rider If you can and show him/her pictures of the damage and see what they say then proceed from there.

Why does my option always go to ski mask and baseball bat? Better yet, steal his battery.

Don't squeeze into spaces where there isn't ample room?

There was enough room for him to not touch my bike while getting on his, tilting it up and riding away. I would call that ample room. Not sure why you are implying that it's okay to damage someone's bike for parking close. That is just messed up.

Bro, the other rider left. Except he didn't knock your bike down. The car parked next to you knocked your bike over and saw it was parked close to the line and wrote on your tank.

The message on the tank suggests it is him. Both sides of the parking area are driveways so no car would have been parked close. The bike was not knocked over, just the mirror was hit forward.

There is no line, no cars would be parked near by and the only way to hit the mirror would be by hand.
I have no doubt it was the rider, just no definitive proof.

What if a car came out of the driveway and wasn't looking that direction? Let me guess, if a car was leaving the driveway and was looking towards traffic when they pulled out and wasn't looking, could they hit your bike? Could you have parked further away from the driveway?

Sorry dude I always give other riders benefit of a doubt and assume stupidity before malice. Sorry that happened to you :/ SF sucks butt hole sometimes

I'd try to talk to him in person, or leave him a "pleasant" note yourself saying, Hey, did you touch my bike? Can we figure out a parking solution? Or something.....

People can be thoughtless and think they're invincible. One time this guy on a scooter parked literally ON TOP of my can. He parked ON MY EFFING BIKE... in downtown Berkeley. I took the air out of his tires. I had to have a friend lift his scooter so I could get my bike out. As I was putting on my helmet, the guy came out.... smiled at me and said, "Tight parking, huh?" I looked at him like, You are such an asshole!!! Then I took off. I never saw his scooter there again.

EDIT: PS. not proud of what I did. I did it in anger. I still wonder how I could have handled it differently!

8/10 its a car. Why would someone punch your mirror and fairing and bother to leave a note? Especially when that damage is classic knocked over damage? Why would the rider do that when they live there too and will have to answer to you?

MAYBE whatever car is being an idiot already hit and left a note on THEIR bike sayin not to park so close, so THATS why the rider started parking in the middle?

I mean. Im just lookin at this from the outside.

Perhaps a car knocked over your bike and it nearly hit his when you fell over?

He picked it up and was like- yo homes dont park near me your a car magnate.

My suggestion is to move out of SF.
