Over 20 police cars at my dad’s supermartket plaza

Holy cow. There’s over 100 police outside and they won’t tell us what’s going on! Sounds like a hostage negotiation with the cop speakers real loud. I just saw a huge SWAT van come into the parking lot. Hope it’s on the news tomorrow to let us know what is happening. There are also police dogs barking and people shouting. My dad thinks it’s a robbery and the police came to prevent the robbers from escaping. Any Barf members who are police please let me know what is happening here in Sunnyvale. Thanks!

One of the nice police officers here recognizes me and tells me that they chased a wanted fugitive into this parking lot and he was hiding here trying to blend in. There’s no news van so I don’t think this crazy incident will be on the news.

That is my dad’s neighborhood. I’ll have to check it out tomorrow. I had a paperroute there back in the day.

Wasn't OP "new" to the country and posted here to learn about another culture?

Now OP is a native and their parents own a supermarket?

What ever happened with the attempted to be stolen motorcycle? Did that ever get sorted? Has DesiDucati ridden any miles on a motorcycle since joining the BARFs? Any interest in motorcycles anymore? These are the questions I have.

You've never referred to a Safeway as "your" Safeway? Talking to friends about your neighborhood, you've never referred to the mom+pop corner store as "your" corner store / sandwich shop?

Many years ago I came home in SF to find that SFPD had blocked off my street with 15-20 cars. Turned out that a widow who lived up the street was finally clearing out her late husband's stuff from the garage. Apparently he had a box of hand grenades in there. Wasn't sure if they were live or not.

That was neat. :laughing

I was reorganizing the wood shed yesterday and found a box of blasting caps.....thinking of fun ways to dispose of them that don't include the swat team....:teeth

not new, he's said his uncle (at least,if not dad), owns a s'market

I do agree with you that this could make him less "new" than any other people who come without
1) parents
2) uncles
3) already from a 50/50 English-speaking country
