Oklahoma - Hallett Motor Racing Circuit

Hey Folks,

Has anyone ever gone to Hallett Motor Racing Circuit in Oklahoma? Experience? It's now my new local track. I registered for this Saturday trackday.

Did not have a choice on what group to ride in. All riders new to track have to attend a mandatory (HART- Hallet Advanced Rider Training) unless you have a current race license. I don't mind, but they are charging $30 additional fee for it and will probably be a whole session missed. I have done many many trackdays, but in California "A" Group.

Another thing I am weary about is when I called to speak to someone about information on bringing 2 bikes to ride for the day. I was told I would have to get approval from the owner Connie via email. Strange since both the bikes I am bringing are street legal/plated. (1290 Super Adventure S and my trusty 450 EXC in Supermoto trim) I am told it's a technical track so the SM should be fun.

Anyone?

I did a couple of 1.5-day events there back in 07 and 08 (and in a Miata) so beware that my impressions may be obsolete.

That said, I remember it being a fun track for a momentum car, with only a couple of "long" straights to be ruled by the throttle jockeys. (SM? Hell yeah.) There's not a ton of overall elevation delta like Sonoma or Laguna, but what's there has been thoughtfully implemented to keep you on your toes with regard to tire loading. There are one or two turns where the runoff is not terribly long, but you will find a tire wall at the end instead of a cliff or pointy rocks.

It's very much a mom-and-pop operation, and IMO it retains the warm and small feel of a bygone era of club racing and karting. Also, Connie is good peeps.

I expect you'll have a great time, but please report back either way. :ride
