Im in need of desperate help here, I have 2 bikes for sale in the moto section. I see people on the BARF buying the same bike for the same price but with way more miles and way less add ons.
what am i doing wrong here?
asking if some members could critique my ad and tell me why they think it wont sell. Id like to put an ad up on craigslist but at this rate im getting super discouraged and not wanting to hassle with trying to sell this bike anymore but my family needs the money.

here is the ad:

What in your opinion should i change or add to the listing. if you were buying a bike would you go for this over something with 15,000 miles or why would you not.
would a set of pitbull stands make you more likely to buy a bike? is the clear clutch cover to much?

thanks:thumbup

clear clutch cover is a bit much. Some may like it 95% not. Not hating just saying maybe try organizing the text a little better? just a little help. I'm no expert but glws! :thumbup

Clutch cover and picture of you charging the battery aren't good.

Just take front, rear, side pictures in good light. You mentioned a few scratches so make sure people can see them.

I concur. The pictures make the bike look sloppy and undesirable.

Emphasizing the mods doesn't help, stock stuff sells better. I'd put back the original clutch cover at least. The less the buyer has to think/worry about the easier it will sell. Pics should be uncluttered and clear. Fix or replace the tire, nobody wants to buy a bike that has an immediate hassle to deal with.

my thoughts...

Im sure there is more im forgetting. << sounds like you don't know your bike very well. I want to buy from someone who knows all about their bike.

bike does have a few scratches on the right side where i gently laid it down in my drive way while not moving due to my ankle giving out after my third reconstruction on it. << sounds like typical "dropped only once in the driveway..."

will need a new rear tire as the one on it is plugged and losses air slowly. <<sounds like "I am deferring all maintinance because I knew I'd be selling it, get ready to do a full service or worse, to deal with everything else I've neglected"

here's a couple various pics, should have new pics up tommarow after it has a bath and wax:) << Bike on charger, dirty, with weird stickers on it and a somewhat silly light up clutch cover does not instill confidence of a mature meticulious owner.

really need this gone, asking 5000.00
compared to most of the other 1000RR's i have seen going for 4500 to 5000 this is a steal as it doesnt have 20,000 miles (only 5968.00) has tons of upgrades and is a great clean title bike.

my nephew from georgia is currently staying with my wife and i and i didn't relize what it would actually cost to help out a 19 year old. wife just had a neck fusion and would like to be able to take her to san diego to see her family before school starts for her again (she teaches).
any questions please ask me. << a bit TMI and sounds like you need cash

only trades I am open to would be limited or open competition guns <<sounds like you don't need cash that bad>> plus cash from you.:thumbup

to fix:
detail it, remove superflous stickers, remove light up clutch cover, better pictures, reduce text to mods, mileage, details of condition. If you don't want to replace the tire state you lowered the price to allow the new owner to select the tire brand and model of their choice.

In general the stickers, lack of mirrors, leaking rear tire with plug, light up clutch cover, lound exhaust scream SQUID. Nobody wants to buy a squid bike, not even a squid. It is also a 9 year old bike now.

Also, did you get the new pictures up as promised? then remove the "bad" ones. That will show follow through....

Just skimming over it, I saw the 5968.00 and thought for a second that it was the price. Maybe drop the ".00"?

Oh, and lose the clutch cover.

There's a market for any bike no mater the year if the price is right.

Like everyone already said that pic of it looking like its broken down won't help.
9 yrs old or not that price with low miles and good rubber seems reasonable. I wouldn't go much less.

The light up clutch cover looks like HAL. I would say get rid of that mod, and tell people you have it if they want it. At the very least move that pic lower. Have the first pic you see be a nice side shot of the bike in good light, perhaps in a scenic location. Add a caption like this was me last weekend. Lol.

Do a little more text formatting, bullet lists and such. This is ad for your bike. Make everything about it attractive.

The light up stuff is a matter of taste and some people like it. I don't would avoid any bikes with lighting effects myself especially if there are comparable bikes without the hassle of removing it.

Other things that would turn me off are hasn't been ridden for awhile, and needs a new rear tire. So far I need to remove lighting, get a new tire, and probably change fluids since it hasn't been ridden. Another bike ready to ride might be more up my alley. You do say why you are selling but maybe add a few things like I don't want to sell, but ...

No mention of where the stock exhaust is, or at least, I couldn't find it in that morass of words.

Listen to the advice above and get rid of 1/2 the words.

The price should be the first thing you see, right next to the mileage.

I didn't know such a mod existed-so blingy. :laughing

$5k for the bike seems like a pretty solid deal though. :) :thumbup

I tend to price my bikes pretty low, so that helps. :p But I emphasize the history and maintenance of the bike, rather than all the superfluous modifications I might have done to it. In my experience, people want to know that they have something with good bones and they want to make it their own. Outlining clearly what problems it might currently have and the effort/cost it might take to fix those (if they're large fixes) are also good. Most people are reasonable and understand that a used bike isn't going to be perfect. What they're trying to figure out is whether the imperfections still make it a good buy. Take lots of pictures, especially of damage. Be upfront and honest. That's not to say that you need to give lengthy descriptions of every single thing... but give an outline of any issues that you might have had so that if someone's interested, they can contact you for more info. And be freaking available by phone and in person. Nothing I hate more than having someone put something up for sale and then be impossible to pin down to meet. Being flexible on price doesn't hurt either. I'll just pass over an ad if someone says "firm" on price.

Just my input...ymmv

The feel of the ad is awkward.

To me, the lit up clutch cover just screams "mad stunna-yo" and all the abuse that goes along with it. The pic on the battery charger? Lose it. It makes the bike look broken. Stickers are often used to cover paint damage and therefore suspect as well.

Also with the text...K.I.S.S. is always the best policy.

You owe me for this.

Y'all bitches know that pic with the little hottie redhead doing a self portrate in the mirrir looking all slutty an shit like you wanna get all up in that- only the next pic is her whole body and someone would have to hold your foot so you didn't get lost in that shit there's so much of her... yeah ouch. Well this is like that picture only in reverse: this is a beautiful 1000RR that I've taken the shittyest possible picture of- bitch is all squeezed up in my garage and dusty and shit and the worst fuckin angle I could use- and I used a motherfuckin 1997 flip phone. But I did this shit on purpose yo, know why? Because If I showed you good pics of this honey you'd rub one the fuck out right now and then you'd want a nap and a sandwich instead of hustlin your ass over here and buying this bitch.
IMG_0268-vi.jpg

And take the fucking battery tender off her for the ass shot for christsakes.

The biggest problem I see is leading the add with its worst feature. You might as well take photos of a marijuana leaf sticker on your bike and post it. It's like when people try to sell their dirt bike with a paddle tire, it's worth more if you throw the tire away and never mention it.
