I've gotten busted for this couple times:
1. best-case: got ticket for registration. Showed judge corrected registration and got fined $45.
2. worse-case: car got impounded. Had to quickly get insured and registered at DMV. Went back to yard to get car out. Had to show current registration and insurance to get it out. And pay 3-days storage.
