They kept Thornton around waaaay too long. I don't care how many assists he got, he passed up so many shots that the new "failure to initiate a scoring opportunity" trophy should be named after him. Pavelski was always going to walk at the end of his deal. He knew what the Sharks were capable of, and signing his last major contract with a contender (and an income tax free state, IMO) was more important. I wish he would've gone to Tampa for less $$, but he didn't consult me.
Catch that game last night? The Sharks actually looked worse on the PP. The personnel just isn't there. It's like they have a #2 line, a #3 line, a 3.5 and then some scrubs. Ol' Randy Hahn loves talking about the lack of home ice, etc., but home ice ain't nothing in hockey, especially with no fans. If they crawl away from the bottom of the standings I'll be amazed.
Thanks for the scouting report. I need to catch a game. A little terrifying knowing some of these kids don’t even combine for a season worth of games :laughing At least they’re getting more play time.
Anyone watching Connor McDavid? Kid is on another level!
Agreed, Vlasic is a solid 3rd pair, maybe second, but unfortunately being paid as a 1st pairing.
The kids show promise, a lot of names that I did not anticipate too.
Ferraro, 22, WILL be a top pairing defenseman
Knyzhov, 22, could be 1st pairing, easily Top 4; got into a scrap tonight, didn't turn out well. :laughing A few butterfly stitches and he was back out there.
Leonard and Balcers, both 22, playing Top 6 and PP and still getting better.
Gregor, 22, looks to be a solid 3rd liner checker.
I hope to return to playoff standard in the next 2-3 seasons
