New to This List

hey, I am new to this list, .....from way over in GA. I ride a Ducati 907ie, BMW F800GS, and BMW R1200S. I love the California roads and hope to get back there to ride one day.

I apologize. I don't know your rules and I guess that is a problem for me, obviously. The only one I saw was something about having to wait 15 days to post something on the marketplace. I was not trying to sell anything, if that is the issue. Regarding the part I saw, it was posted like a yr ago. Likely not even still available but if so I thought the gentleman might like to get rid of it. I need one and will purchase something before 15 days goes by.

Again, I apologize. I thought it might be cool to know some west coast riders. Ill just slink into the shadows and observe quietly.

At the top of the Newbie forum and all Classified Forums is this announcement:

You must be a member of BARF for 15 days AND have 15 posts to be able to post in any of the Classified Forums or send PM's.

It doesn't say 'sell' an item, it says 'post'. We've had newbies scam our membership by both buying and selling items. That is why the 15/15 rule is in place.

I'm sorry that you feel that you cannot get to know west coast riders because you cannot post in the Classified Forums. You're missing out. BARF is one hell of a fantastic resource for local riders and those from out of state and out of the country. Many people have come to CA and been shown around CA by our members.

I have been a member of MOA for many years but allowed it to lapse a few years ago as I wasn't getting much out of it any more. If you are into the club events type thing, then it is a great group to be part of. I just don't do a lot of the rallying and such.

I do miss the monthly magazine though.

I did not post in the classifieds. I did not PM anyone. My intentions were good. I was just moving too fast, I guess. The 15/ 15 rule seemed strange to me. I was very up front about who I am and offered a FREE membership to MOA if anyone was interested. I don't know this forum, and I/m not a local guy, and this forum may be mainly geared to locals connecting to ride, which is fine. I not a guy trying to sell gear.

I don't feel that I can't get to know west coast riders because I can't post in the classifieds. I do not have to post in the classifieds at all. And I can get to know west coast guys through MOA I am sure. I just wanted to contact that one member who had begged someone to buy that item last year, and to see what this forum was like, because it seemed like a pretty cool group. My first taste was a sort of reprimand. A simple, courteous explanation of your system would have been fine.

I apologized. Let me apologize again. And, I can certainly offer you, sir, a MOA membership, as a gesture of goodwill, if you are not already a member.

As for west coast riding, it is some of the finest I have done and I can't wait to get back out there sometime. There is still a lot I have to see and experience.

I see you are a MSF instructor. That is awesome. I would not mind getting into that myself sometime.

The MOA magazine is really great, I think, and is still offered in actual print, which I like. The membership is worth it just for that mag in my opinion. And there are other benefits, such as the anonymous book, and app, which links you to riders across the country that are willing to help a rider in need, or offer a place to camp, or tools, etc.
