XSR is proportioned all wrong. This one is better, but still too high off the ground. Original Kaw 900s were long and low.

Don't judge bikes by the looks alone. You can't go wrong with either the Yamaha 900 or the Kawi 900. Both motors are awesome. I like the Kawi retro two tone paint. A bikini windscreen and a good rear shock would complete it. It would seem difficult to fit a bikini windscreen to it with the instrument pod so far forward almost on top on the headlight.
