New food chain: Cereal Bars

A friend was telling me about this new place that opened up in Santa Cruz. It's a cereal bar and sounds like they are jazzing up cereal like Cold Stone Creamery has been jazzing up 500 calorie ice cream scoops. He kept going on and on about how they show Cartoon Network all day on a big screen tv. :laughing

Apparently you get two scoops of two different hot or cold cereals, a choice of 'topping' and your choice of regular, chocolate, soy or lactose free milk, all served up in a chinese takeout box container. For a little under $5.

Found some random pics of the Santa Cruz location on Flikr:

Here is an article about the franchise and what they serve in Time Magazine:

Would you go? Brilliant idea or kitchy fad restaurant?
Apparently it's really working out in some college towns, I wonder how it would fare in places like SF, SJ or Palo Alto? I also think they are missing the mark by closing at 3pm on a Saturday instead of being open really late Friday & Saturday nights. That's where you get the "munchie crowd." :smoking

See for yourself: Cereality

*Tina*

Fuck off
3pm closing time ?!?! :wtf

I'm not even out of bed and dressed some Saturdays by that time. :laughing :laughing

Exactly. They are totally missing Tina's demographic. Apparently on Sundays they are open at 6am, but still. In my universe cereal is the 24 hour a day eat it whenever food!

VTRZA, where do you go when you get the munchies? I don't know about you but I hate waiting in line at Stacks on the weekends. Cereal to go would ease the flow.

I go to my kitchen, pull out some bacon and eggs and go to town. Stacks is wayyy too crowded for me. I go to the farmers market every Sunday and the line is ridiculous. Denny's CFS and eggs, the Cardinal is pretty good too

If you got free refills I might go.

I once worked with a guy that you could bribe with a quart of milk and a box of frosted flakes....he kept a big tupperware bowl and spoon handy....he would eat the whole box in one sitting, then go do my work for me.
