What's with the rut between lane 1 and 2?
And the pavement heights mostly don't match.
Makes lane splitting a bit scary.
Is this caltrans reportable?

It runs the entire length of my thankfully short stretch on 101.

Kinda wondered if anyone ever went down because of it. Or if you just get used to it and don't worry about it. It seems like it would be more dangerous in wet conditions too.

So far I am taking it at an angle every time, don't dare ride on it straight so far.

On 280 I also avoided the center strip because of the reflective bumps, but you could ride over them for short distances without worrying too much, they would trigger the ABS but not much else in the way of hazard.

I see plenty of other riders doing that stretch, curious what y'all think.

Best of luck. I reported it years ago when I was on the same commute. Periodically they will fix a few of the most egregious spots but they never actually solved the problem.

that's fine, then, as long as the motorcyclist who eventually crashes due to this survives with no permanent damage. that person will get a lot of $ after they sue for not fixing this after years of documented reporting.

well what it is now is better than what it WAS
there used to be a ~3" ridge where the ass-fault pushed up a mini mountain range. it was ground down.... years ago. still sucks, like all of 101.

Yeah right, the govt never pays out when people get hurt... or when vehicles get damaged... Sonoma County told me if they paid out all the claims they wouldn't have money to fix the roads...

Well maybe if ya didn't go wasting our tax dollars on BS you would have enough to do both :thumbup :wow

It's a lot better now. Used to have plants growing out of it.

Raise up slightly, pump the suspension, and gas it on the rebound, you'll hop right over it.

My business is in that area and I have to deal with that 'road feature' regularly.

You should see some of the shit going on in the 1/2 lanes on SB 101 by SFO. if it gets any worse I'm going to start shopping for a trophy truck to commute with.

I don't understand how anyone drives a car with low-profile tires in the Bay Area... you'd mangle them instantly.

I love my 2wd Hilux, even with the stock tire size I've got 6" of sidewall form the rim to the ground... floats like a caddy
