Need a truck and a car dolly Concord to SF

I need to borrow the truck and dolly to tow a car from Concord to SF. I'll use U-Haul if I can't find an angel to help me. I'll pay depending on what's provided in green paper or liquid refreshments.

Found a shop who can fix my MINI!!!

Mini Cooper?

If so, I highly recommend BR Racing in Los Gatos but that's a ways away from you. They're top notch, though. Plenty of Mini experience both street and racing. And they field one of the most successful Porsche racing teams around. BMW as well. Etc.....

What year Mini? Base model? S model? JCW? Does it have a CVT transmission?

If it has the CVT transmission, it's a disaster waiting to happen. On Mini's they have an extremely poor reputation so you'd want to factor that in.

How many miles?

If you can't find anyone to help, I have a truck that can tow. No dolly but U-Haul has those. Bridge toll and gas aren't cheap--but cheaper than a tow truck.

How about sign up for AAA which gives you a 200 mile tow? Probably cheaper than gas and rental.

2010 Cooper S, auto not a CVT.
Neutral exists and should not be an issue on a U-Haul dolly for the front wheels.
I may have a vehicle to borrow too.
More to come.

Thanks to everyone for your help!

I think what he means is that the automatic transmissions on the Mini go kaput just as often as the motors do so to take that into consideration when putting money in the car.

I think they stopped using the CVT after 2006 though.

Agreed, but it's cheaper than going out and buying a used 500e.
So we just need it to make it one more year, about 10,000 miles.
Once we move to Oregon, we plan to buy a Subie.

There are three other 2009-2010 Mini Cooper S models on Craigslist right now, in the area, that all need valve jobs. I don't want another used engine with most likely more miles than mine had on it.

Pretty sure, just nobody has sued them over this yet.
I got a free water pump and thermostat because of a law suit which created an extended warranty. Just not this one.

I think I recall the water pump problem with the 2nd get cars. Took them a few years to correct the situation.

Fortunately, by the time 2005/2006 rolled around, the 1st gen was pretty well sorted out. I've had very few problems with my '06 JCW. And I like the supercharged 1st gen better anyway.

Best I could do as it stands, is about $1000 whole.
I can't part it out in front of my house.

That's $1k in your pocket today rather than a -3k.

With the history of these cars, seems like it might be a good deal.

Looks like it's really worth only about 5k on the open market...not the 8k mentioned earlier. So I'd definitely take the 1k over the "potential" of 2k in a year notwithstanding some other problem likely to rear its ugly head.

2011 in excellent condition asking $5,500
