My old Android

My Moto G5s Plus is slightly older than 1.5 years old and runs on Oreo.

I know that apps get tweaked for newer OSes, like Pie. So would such a tweak to apps cause my phone to freeze? Or could the freezing be caused by the aging USB mini receptacle not liking my new USB cables? I went ahead and deleted the likely apps that might be causing the freezing.

Freezing happens when I'm recharging with USB mini cables, whether on DC, portable chargers, or car charger. Annoying to the extreme.

If the problem is the USB receptacle, is that part replaceable? This has been a decent phone and although I have my sights on a new phone for this April, I want this phone to last a lot longer.

Thanks in advance for any insights.

The Beanz.
