my little squid day

So I took the day off from work today, and thought I would take my bike out and practice some :instance stuff. I'm having a horrible time with my stoppies. I keep bringing my left foot down, so I keep leaning to the left. I almost dropped my bike. Before we left to go home, I decided to try a burnout, standing to the side of the bike. As the bike started to turn, my hand slipped off the brake a little and the bike took off. I couldn't stop laughing. I wound up dropping my bike. No damage really, well maybe a little. So here are a few pics. :twofinger

I find it amazing that bike mfrs. haven't integrated some sort of crash protection/sliders to their designs by now (other than rubber turn sig stalks) but then some are just barely keeping afloat to begin with. kinda' like SUV's and remote folding mirrors, like DUH! :p

see in your pic someone had fun laying down the posi stripes too!

That's badass you just said screw normal stoppies I'm gonna bust them one footed! The only rider in BTB to not drop their bike during a burnout is BTB so don't feel bad about that at all. I'm still waiting for some wheelies though :twofinger

Just out of curiosity, since I haven't tried any squidliness on my part yet...have any of you ever taken the fairings off of your bike while practicing new tricks? Are there any pros/cons to doing so? I was thinking that maybe it might save some money on damaging plastics, but wasn't sure if there was greater danger on messing up some engine parts?

You ought to be proud of your bike's battle scars. :D
Anyone can go buy a shiny undamaged bike, the dents and scratches show you actually use the bike. :D

...said the guy who's lost about 1/2 gallon of capacity on his gas tank from dents.

I'm actually gonna do that when I try rolling burnouts in a circle. EVERYONE tells me that if you're gonna do those you WILL drop it. Just make sure ya got frame sliders though. :D :D

IMO keep fairings on. rather rash or sacrifice those than trying to explain and/or fix how all the nekkidness got bent/rashed/broken (dead bust). maybe buy some pre-rashed pieces for cheap if you want to save the originals?

don't believe everyone polishes their frames just because it looks good :rolleyes

The Reason I polished My Frame was Because
