Rolls with it...
There have been several anti-Semitic attacks in New York/New Jersey recently, although this hasn’t been been specifically labeled as such....

A couple of those news stories alluded to it being one as the attack occurred in the Rabbi's home during a Chanukah celebration.

Hopefully they catch the people responsible for this (the get away driver as well) and they are able to ascertain why they did this.

It is very alarming. I'm more disturbed than I have been in years. That's not good. I've always been a disturbed person, more isn't better.

I see the US as a place where increasing extremism and rampant social media collude to create entire new splinter groups of "victims" who need to strike out against the "oppressor." Whoever that may be.

"Those darn Jews" has always played well, heck, it played well 1000 years ago.
Combine marginal education with poverty and lack of scope, and you get incidents like these. It's no different than what's happening in the mid east, actually.

IB4 played out “Ban assault machete” posts...

Sad that this type of hate crime still happens in 2019....

Totally agree on the extremism part. I also view it in terms of inputs and outputs, with the inputs being everything that bombards your senses and the outputs being your actions. It seem impossible to me that our inputs can become increasingly extreme with no affect on our outputs.

Never understood the "those darn jews" thing. They seem to look and talk like everyone else, but what...they don't eat pork or something? Lots of people must be spending lots of time in delis and sandwich shops and then I guess that no-pork red flag pops up and sends them into a blind rage..?

It comes from the stereotype that Jews are a powerful, well financed cabal and because they look like regular ol' white people (so they can integrate innocuously and do cabal shit). It's always about money and power.

It's the circumcision thing. You know how when you are peeing in a public restroom, you always crane your head and look at the guy next to you, to see whether or not he's circumcised? And when he sees you, you say: "Wow! Nice one, buddy," so he'll know you're not an antisemite? It's a complicated world. :thumbup

The Jersey City shooting and this machete woundings were committed by blacks who claim they are the original Jews and thus the real Chosen People. They think white Jews are usurpers.

But historically speaking the ancient Hebrews came from the land of Ur, in Mesopotamia, not Africa.

...but seriously, I dont get why the jewish people have had such a hard time for so long. Their contributions to society per capita is off the chart. The ones I've known were/are friendly and generous, the exception being my girlfriends parents. They hated me for dating their daughter. :laughing. i was like " relax lady, we're just shtooping for a while" i have some regrets for the trouble i caused their family, but my GF loved that her domoneering parents were pissed about it. :party

When I'm standing next to someone at a urinal, I like to lean over and comment, "nice watch".

Goes back to medieval Europe and earlier. Good Christians weren't allowed by the Church to charge interest or handle money for profit. Jews were, and had the advantage of millennia of tradition of education. They not only were allowed to handle money, finance and math were part of their education. They were hired to watch out and oversee the finances of Kings, Princes, and royalty. There were some great fortunes built then. And that's the source of the notion that Jews are good with money and have lots of it. Though the simple truth was that almost European Jews were just as poor as their Christian brethren. And pardon me for being pedantic if you knew this.

Aren't Jews white males and females, primarily?

Cuomo called the attack "domestic terrorism". Seems a bit early to know?

I know a Sephardic Jew with blonde hair and blue eyes, and many Ashkenazi with Semitic features. However:

Quoted from "Judaism 101"
Who are Ashkenazic Jews?

Ashkenazic Jews are the Jews of France, Germany, and Eastern Europe and their descendants. The adjective "Ashkenazic" and corresponding nouns, Ashkenazi (singular) and Ashkenazim (plural) are derived from the Hebrew word "Ashkenaz," which is used to refer to Germany. Most American Jews today are Ashkenazim, descended from Jews who emigrated from Germany and Eastern Europe from the mid 1800s to the early 1900s. The pages in this site are written from the Ashkenazic Jewish perspective.
Who are Sephardic Jews?

Sephardic Jews are the Jews of Spain, Portugal, North Africa and the Middle East and their descendants. The adjective "Sephardic" and corresponding nouns Sephardi (singular) and Sephardim (plural) are derived from the Hebrew word "Sepharad," which refers to Spain.

Sephardic Jews are often subdivided into Sephardim, from Spain and Portugal, and Mizrachim, from the Northern Africa and the Middle East. The word "Mizrachi" comes from the Hebrew word for Eastern. There is much overlap between the Sephardim and Mizrachim. Until the 1400s, the Iberian Peninsula, North Africa and the Middle East were all controlled by Muslims, who generally allowed Jews to move freely throughout the region. It was under this relatively benevolent rule that Sephardic Judaism developed. When the Jews were expelled from Spain in 1492, many of them were absorbed into existing Mizrachi communities in Northern Africa and the Middle East.
