Hi All,

Sounds like I could get Lojack installed for about 650.00.

Or...

I could get a serious chain and try to lock my bike when I park it:

On Guard or Kryptonite

What do you all think?

the chains only work if you have someplace sturdy to chain the bike to, like a vmax.

your best bet is put buell stickers on your bike, that way people wont even be able to stand to look in your bike's general direction.

that and draw a little diagram for yourself every time you park your bike, maybe tattoo it on your body like in memento, so you wont forget where you parked it.

Depends how bad you want that bike. Lojack, full coverage and a chain. If it gets snatched again, hopefully the cops get the fuckers along their whole operation.

lower your comprehensive deductible to 250. all bikes can be picked up and tossed in moving vans now in seconds. good insurance is the only real protection.

Seriously man. Install LoJack, carry a small disc lock (it won't do much good if the thieves carry the bike away in a van, but use it anyway) and cover the bike with a bike cover. I use a Nelson-Rigg that comes with a back pack style carry-on bag...

With any nice bike try to make an effort to park where you or someone you trust can see it. If that's not possible, then pay the extra money for a gated public garage and still use the equipment I mentioned above...

At home. Do chain the bike to a fixed structure like a support column, even if it's kept inside a closed garage. You'd be surprised how many ballsy thieves will break into a garage to find an unsecured bike. If you chain the bike. I recommend you use a rubber boot of some kind so you won't create any scratches when you slide the chain through your back wheel or frame...

And last but not least. Assuming you have a garage. Install a home alarm system. If not for the whole house, at least for the garage door. In the end you make the call in how important the bike is to you and how far your willing to go to protect it...

Good luck mang...:thumbup

PM me if you have any questions. I can point you in the right direction at Cycle-Gear. There's also a hardware store not too far from there...

Theft insurance and dont worry about it, its not like a cbr600 is a rare impossible to replace bike. Lojack is great for the community but not so great for the individual, do you really want a stolen bike back?

As I'm sure some people would not want to deal with a damaged bike as the result of it being stolen and recovered. I personally would get more satisfaction from knowing the thief or thieves were caught, booked and convicted. That would be priceless! Or even better, I would rather see the thief use my bike to smear himself across the road into an unrecognizable pulp while fleeing from the police. Having my bike replaced by my insurance while the thief gets to make money off my bike and then gets to plan his next hit. Is a big No-Go...
