Hey everybody,

This is an awkward message to post, but I gotta try out as many venues as possible. It feels weird, but...

In August, I crashed my Interceptor when returning home after a gig and trashed my Big B alto saxophone.

The techs in the area don't want to work on it because "the cost of repair is more than the value of the instrument."

I want to send it to Music Medic in North Carolina for their Uberhaul service.

I have started a gofundme to help offset the costs and get the repair underway.

I am putting in as much of my own funds as I can, but real life is real life.

If anyone would like to help preserve and restore a beautiful horn, please donate.

I'm covered on horns, BeksNY, the Big B was my favorite, though...such a sweet sound, but could punch like Muhammad Ali.

Why not buy a new one if it would be cheaper? I don't understand. Get a used one off eBay or something if you want to preserve it or whatever.

c'mon man, you need to dish the crash story to gain sympathy. Prius left turning in front of you? Enough $$ will flow to get three saxes!

The horn belonged to my late uncle, if I got another horn, it wouldn't be "my uncle's sax."

I have one grandfather's violin, and the other's 1951 Ford, so it's another family heirloom.

Oh yeah, um, I was run off the road by a herd of Priuses, a, a, a, wild uncontrollable Prius Gang. I think it was the "Energizer's Bunnies." They crowded me towards the inside shoulder of a turn and forced me off into loose gravel oil sand snow ice tar snakes wet paint and I lost the front and tumbled 100 miles before coming to a stop. My body was fine, but my sax was toast..

You're most welcome for the offer. I work in music and pretend I'm still a musician on weekends sometimes; I know the pain of a severely damaged instrument. Little bucks coming your way soon.

Sorry about the crunched Sax, Dave. That sux. I'll kick down a few bucks towards the repairs. :thumbup

My kid is 14 and has been playing a sax for two years. He played piano for 6 years before that. We got him a cheapo Chinese beginner sax, but he's stuck with it, so we upgraded the mouthpiece recently and have been looking at upgrading to a new horn too. I don't play, so I don't know much about them, or what to look for, but this one caught my eye... Buescher Alto Saxophone. Any thoughts?

Our combo is playing tonight at the Double Barrel on First St. in Livermore from 7 - 10. I'm using a back-up horn, but I'll still sound like me (unfortunately ahahaha).
