sounds like fun but isn't that a bit mellow compared to a usual hill climb competition?

Yes, very much so.

Although the event will not feature pro classes, several nationally ranked Pro hillclimbers will be invited to perform for the fans on their high-performance, high-horsepower open bikes.

The reason there wont be pro classes is probably because the hill isn't big/steep enough for the pro's bikes to have a proper race. Sounds like it will be more of an exhibition. Which is still cool, I bet a lot of people who go to road races don't even know hill climbing exists as another discipline of racing motorcycles.

Good thing they will be there in conjunction with MA and there wont be sound restrictions. Hill climb bikes are for sure some of the loudest motorcycles I've ever heard. From singles to twins to I4s, they don't seem to care much for mufflers.

haha street bike class. Maybe I will compete in the mini class since I already know my Sur Ron can get up that hill. Now with with 15KW should blaze up it.

Honestly, this is a bit of a shame.

That hill is infamous. For hiking up and down it to get around the track. For the Corkscrew shuffle of watching from the top as bikes dive in to Turn 5, and hustling over to watch them crest over the Corkscrew, and back yet again to sail out of Turn 10.

Idea of it being torn up for a hill climb, I dunno. Not appealing.

Why can't they find a nice flat spot to host Supermoto or something.

They could race up fox hill the motocamp that's adjacent to the corkscrew hill, I think it's just as steep

Actually I've raced my mtb down that hill on a dual slalom course that's set up once a year. They've been running it for many years. The grass grows back:thumbup.

haha street bike class.

Reminds me of when they ran speedway races at the Solano County fairgrounds in Vallejo on Saturday nights. Occasionally they ran a "street" event. A bunch of guys rolling around on their Harley baggers. A few even had cup holders swinging from the bars with a tall Budweiser sloshing around. Good stuff. :laughing

I would watch and I applaud you Moto America. Not only for getting Moto racing back on tv or internet or whatever but for also making the events MORE family friendly.

I need to get back up to Auburn. I'm glad they still have stuff going on. Thanks for the nudge.:thumbup

Back on topic and avoiding a thread jack, the Laguna Hill Climb sounds like too much fun to miss. It'll be hard (impossible) to top the show they've been putting on at Carnegie the last few years though.
