Three New National Monuments-

On Friday, President Obama named three new national monuments: the 704,000-acre Basin and Range National Monument north of Las Vegas, the Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument, a 100-mile stretch of land reaching across roughly 100 miles of northern California, and Waco Mammoth National Monument in Texas, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

Functionally what does this mean? Isn't it still public? Does anything change on the use of the land?

1. We'll find out

2. Not in my opinion. My definition, despite what the big govt. supporters say, is if it is my decision when and if I visit areas I previously had access to rather than if or when the BLM, DFG or NPS say, then it is public.

3. Very likely. But, this should be closely monitored, sites visited, publications reviewed before a solid opinion is formed. IMHO it is a process of overreaching govt. authority. No public input was solicited or permitted in the decision. I have a problem with that.
