Missing on right cylinder: I forgot most obvious cause (physics)!

Yeah, at least if they admit to issue and put out tech-bulletin for fix, others with issue can fix it themselves. Or even easier for dealers to do if it's still under warranty.

Is this another Ford Pinto fiasco in the making?

Ack!

To stop speculation, I will explain what happened. Kawasaki put the bike back to stock. There is still a little gurgling on #2 side when bike cold, but barely noticable (because stock pipes are very quiet).

I think it's just inherent in the design. I do not know what causes it. Probably only the people who designed motor would know.

Enough said.
Glad to here Kawasaki stepped up.

Thank you for saying that. It's really nobody's fault. The first thing I changed was the pipes, and that's when it became really noticable. Kawasaki probably never heard of this because nobody else has ever run straight pipes.

Even with the baffles I put in it was about as loud as a Harley with a Thunderheader, lol.

I'm noticing that cars crowd me a little more now that the bike is quiet again, so I am just being more vigilant.

That being said, the stock setup has a nice sound, even if not loud.

ETA: and Kawasaki absolutely did the right thing. They could have blown me off, but they wanted to keep a happy customer. They now have me as a customer for life.
