shit. if we go out and do stuff now we cannot expect much support from the established infrastructure. The community is good. Best of luck to everyone.

This is no bueno.
My daughter had a conversation with me about this a few years ago.
She knows I ride Carnegie by myself a lot and one day put her foot down and asked me to adhere to a few simple rules. Her primary request was for me to leave a note on my truck windshield advising the rangers of what trails I plan on riding. This was largely prompted by the Oakland Lion incident.
I hope this rider is found safe and quickly.

That sucks, hope they find him safe. But this is a good reminder that if you go out into the wilderness by yourself, it's always a good idea to have a SPOT locator.

Oh my gosh... I felt a little physically ill when I read her message. To be dealing with that on top of this Covid stuff. I hope it ends well for everyone involved. Fingers crossed for the family.

Street or dirt, this guy is always with me:

No system is perfect, but if you want to mitigate risk then some sort of reliable SOS beacon is a must.

I second this ! And from experience (unfortunately) : keep it in your pocket and not on your bike, because you may be separated in a crash

There is still hope for the rider. In another area where I was living before, they found a motorcycle rider 3 days after the crash in a ditch, alive and well, just with a broken leg. This seems to happen all the time, and the inReach is a solid solution, I can't recommend it enough (I also have a CAT tourniquet and a whistle, all in my left pocket, in addition to the inReach).

What a tragic ending. I was really hoping for the best.
RIP and thoughts to the family.

I have been following his daughter on Facebook who has been doing all she could to find him and shared regular status updates, I really feel for her.

Thank you to all who participated in the search. As a random rider it feels good to see the community is strong, and had I been closer, I would have participated in the search too, as I did before in similar circumstances.

I hope we will know more about what happened, so that his death can at least teach us something to improve our safety.

RIP.

[EDIT] First signs point to heart attack or heat stroke
