i hate that all those sets always seem to come with 12 point 1/2" drive sockets. If i need a 30mm socket it's gonna be 6 point hoe!

If you're going to work on Japanese bikes. get a JIS screwdriver or two. Those aren't Phillips screws you see.
Totally agree I have a stack of 12 points I'm having to replace. Plus they end up skipping motorcycle 27mm etc.. and I had to buy a 2nd set just to fill in the first set.
This time around I'm buying 6 point 1/2" Impact sockets so I don't have to buy those also.
I actually never lose mine. Never understood the meme
I’ve lost a few over a couple over the years. Always the god damned black ones.
The tool I’ve lost the most of are pocket screwdrivers. But those I get for free, so when I notice one is gone...meh don’t care.
A $40 magnetic 10mm Snap-On socket? Yeah I’m frigging looking for it.
I would never get an old school wrench, always go with ratcheting wrenches.
Agreed. I even have claw foot wrenches because sometimes the (#$&^@&*#^ bolt you need to take off only allows for that. For the most part I agree. But there are times when that ratcheting box end is just too thick to clear past somethings near the fastener. You’ve got no choice but to get a thin wall (chrome) socket on it or a standard box end.
Here is a Mac ratcheting wrench and then a standard Mac box end. The difference in wall thickness is pretty extreme. And yes I’m probably holding over $100 in my hand right here. Jesus what a racket.
When I started working on cars I lived in NH where it is much colder.I just go to harbor freight and mix match semi decent stuff for the price. Allows me to have just about everything I could possibly need at a fraction of the price. Have had excellent results so far these last 15 years. The stuff in the last 5 or so years have been VERY nice. My mostly harbor freight stuff has served me well, especially since I don't make a living off them but still an excellent lifetime warranty.
