Marchesini forged rim repair advice

So bought an 1199s a couple weeks back, and the previous owner handed me a spare rear rim - he'd got a small dent in it, so he replaced it, and gave this one to me as a spare.

It's a Marchesini forged rim and personally I'd run it, pretty minor dent... bead looks like it would seat fine. I'm aware these are rather expensive - worth repairing fully and selling?

If so, could someone recommend me a good local shop that would take care of it? I asked Dennis at Norman Racing, and he said it's too pretty to toss but didn't know who could do it in the East Bay.

Thoughts?

Same

Call Jose at RiteWay wheel in Walnut Creek.

I’ve used rite way for several auto forged wheel repairs; HRE, BBS and some oem wheels and have had good results.

Not sure if motorcycle wheels are any different but id guess same process.

Obviously, GP is a go-to as well.

Thanks - I'd rather not haul it all the way to sac if I can avoid it, but I'll get a quote from both.

Still question remains - is it worth repairing and selling? There are relatively few used ones for sale so it's hard to get a real estimate on what it's worth

You got it for free; you could sell it as-is, “repairable” or repair it and sell after.

If your question is which will yield more profit, likely just selling as-is and let the buyer invest their own time and money. Quick flip...

How much your own time, gas and travel are worth are the true variable. You could easily check eBay and see how much used marchesini wheels sell for.

I’ve owned forged wheels on different vehicles and bikes for nearly twenty years; the improvement in performance is noticeable with tangible returns.

Last three of my motos had either forged OZs or marchesinis and I loved them.

YMMV hope that answers your question.

Yes. Worth repairing and, if repaired right, keeping as spare or selling. Things are ungodly expensive.

My vote for GP Fame and Wheel. Gerry told me a long time ago at the track that if he can't repair it well enough to race on it he won't do the work. He's gotten my business ever since. I'll ship it to him. Cost becomes relative; it's most important it's safe.

Gerry is great, and he does frequent trips to the post office weekly for wheels, this was like 10 years ago too.

I do remember I was pleasantly surprised at the price when I asked him about the shipping prices.

Repair it yourself then flip it.. you’re going to get dinged heavy on selling something where someone else has to do all the “leg work”

My guess would be if you can get it done for under 150 bucks you will be winning

Zammer.. I run through Albany frequently for work and I live close to RiteWay in Walnut Creek. Happy to grab the wheel and drop it off if you need a hand. PM me if interested. No pressure either way.
