Making plans to ride 229 / Rossi's driveway

I'm in the middle of a suspension upgrade for my mini.
So no date set in stone yet, forks get done this Wed.

I have a desire to run this road when I get it set up, along with the back way into Cambria from Morro Bay, via Santa Rosa creek rd.

For 229, I'm driving to Creston, and unloading along restaurant row, midweek ride, for now.

Cool.

Enjoy the rolling road. It is fun for sure. Must be a hoot on a mini. :ride

Introduced to 229 last year and it was a hoot! A favorite rolling road. Would love to try it on my C70 Passport... downhill sections only :laughing

Special tool, needed one, didn't have.

I got my forks back and reinstalled yesterday.
The bolt that holds the axle bracket to the fork tube, needs a 6" straight section of a 14mm allen key.
This bolt is red locktited, instructions mention a torch to weaken the locktite for removal.
Add to the fact that all fasteners are extremely tight, I would guess max torque used from a power wrench/gun.

So, I wait for a special tool. I thought of the old trick of using a bolt bent to an L with the proper size head, we agreed about a grade 8 needed just to attempt it. The other issue is the hole in the axle bracket is small, no room for a larger shank as is on an allen socket. My axle had a 14mm head but the washer built in was too big too.
My disassembly was a bit shaky and didn't want to leave my bike more than just overnite tied to my door step.
(Yes, shade tree shop without the tree here in Morro Bay)
Off shore wind was in the forecast.

I hate those bolts, last time I took apart my forks, I just took the forks to a shop and had them break them loose for me cost me $5 and 0 frustration. And a mini on Rossi's driveway is going to be a hoot!

There was a tool truck there Wed, didn't have a 14mm allen.
My set went to 10mm, and have a 19mm for a TT500 fork caps, No joy.

Not sure if this will work for your, but I have used a 9/16 joiner nut for 14mm allen. If it fits, you may be able to weld it to a long bolt.

Got a little rain, bunch of threatening clouds Fri/Sat, today the breeze.
I think Tuesday, :ride @ 1:30, temps in low 70's ought to do it.

So, I make the turn onto 229 from 41 and get gravel warnings, the state is tar snaking thru Creston, adding sand over the tar and smearing.
I unload across from the Loading Chute, also open for lunch.

Midweek, Cal Fire has been out burning slash piles, and some pipeline work has some trucks rolling.
I have it all, made 4 1/2 laps, a couple of locals running to town, 5 harleys in two groups, a GS and A twin, behaved; and the black sedan :mad https://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showpost.php?p=10530419&postcount=33

Wildflowers haven't shown up inland yet, all over the coast.

Respectfully submitted by a minion, mini mounted for maximum mayhem.
YMMV :rofl
