James, why do you think nobody cares outside the county?
Last year's fires there were people mobilizing immediately with supplies and care for those affected. The donations we're almost impossible to keep up with. The efforts to give people shelter and support were amazing.
Middletown fire and Cobb, clearlake and Jerusalem fires, the support was much smaller in scale and pretty much from neighboring counties. Yes it's a smaller county population but instead of a small percentage of the total population of the area being involved it's most of the population. The people up there also aren't as well off as people last year. These aren't million dollar super homes, these are hundred year old ranch homes worth nothing except to the people who live in them.
Not seeing people drive up from SLO and LA for Lakeport people like they did for wine country people.
Not seeing the piles of supplies being left at donation centers.
Redding fire is getting a little bit more attention which is good, but still, it's only Redding, not wine country.
