Looks like the fires right on our property at Lampson field, but that's supposed to be "safe". For all of you BARFers evacuated or toughing out what you can, All the luck and prayers for this firestorm being snuffed out, right quick.

Advisory evacuations To the Riviera and Buckingham now. WOW.

Got friends all up in that area losing their homes, fighting to save their homes, and with no clue what's going on with their homes.

If anyone needs anything I'm a 5 second phone call and an hour and a half drive away to help.

It seems like every year recently you've been in the thick of this shit.
It never used to be this way.
You're in my thoughts and I'm close by. PM me if you need anything.
....that goes for anyone here.

We are about one hour north, in between this and the Redding fire. We've got 10 extra rooms waiting for whoever needs them. Probably have someone from the Redding fire staying with us for a month.

I was more relieved that my friend saved her home then when my own was considered safe...

Other friends up there are dealing with it as best they can. Nice thing is that the community of lake county is strong. Nobody cares outside of the county, but they'll take care of themselves.

Not getting the community support like Napa/Santa Rosa did. Redding is getting a little bit but definitely not as much either.

James, why do you think nobody cares outside the county?

Last year's fires there were people mobilizing immediately with supplies and care for those affected. The donations we're almost impossible to keep up with. The efforts to give people shelter and support were amazing.

Middletown fire and Cobb, clearlake and Jerusalem fires, the support was much smaller in scale and pretty much from neighboring counties. Yes it's a smaller county population but instead of a small percentage of the total population of the area being involved it's most of the population. The people up there also aren't as well off as people last year. These aren't million dollar super homes, these are hundred year old ranch homes worth nothing except to the people who live in them.

Not seeing people drive up from SLO and LA for Lakeport people like they did for wine country people.

Not seeing the piles of supplies being left at donation centers.

Redding fire is getting a little bit more attention which is good, but still, it's only Redding, not wine country.

Devastation fatigue. Sounds weird but I believe its true. People are glazing over. With famiy and friends in both areas, I am much more tuned into it but I think people have kind of shut down. After a time, the help will come, I think. I think the spectacular October fire is kind of to blame.

Theory is without controlled burns, we've allowed a buildup near population areas. Possibly?

Local chiefs always tell me that we're too good putting out fires so they don't have the chance to burn naturally and when they do, they become these super fires because of the buildup of debris.

Added to the agriculture and drought conditions, there are way too many dead trees that haven't burned off.

Thanks Dave for the updates. Police are arresting the shit out of looters, so at least that's positive. Any idea if the command post is still at Lampson Field?

Fucking piece of shit looters. Not much in the world irritates me like low-lifes taking advantage of tragedy.
