I'm looking for riders that used to have (or maybe still do) CA license plates with "QIK" on them. DR QIK, IMSOQIK, QIKEST, etc.
One fine morning decades ago I went out to the Kern River canyon on my RZ to ride with friends, but almost all of them flaked. As I was debating whether to run it solo or call it a day a group of riders showed up so I dropped in with them and it ended up being one of the best rides in my life.
Perhaps not coincidentally, this was when I discovered 190 :hail
There was a fairly-fresh-off-the-design-sheet water cooled gixxer 750 in that black and purple motif, a slab-sided GSXR1100, two identical ZX7's, a Yamaha Fazer with a sweet double-canned Yoshi exhaust, maybe a couple a couple others...also the Fazer pilot had a video camera that he'd attach to the side of his helmet with a small chrome weight screwed into the other side to balance it out. :laughing
These guys obviously rode together a LOT and were very comfortable riding close and fast, and after a bit they seemed to trust my riding as well.
Also, they did some cool shit with the video; having everyone stay steady and the filmer would weave through us while hauling ass, he'd go ahead and dismount and get shots from ground level mid corner as we railed by, etc.
This was in the days of VHS-C and I remember trying to get riding videos with my buddies and it was a pain in the ass. You kids today with your GoPros and Contours and cell phones have no fuckin idea how good you have it... :afm199 :laughing
I've always been curious if any of them are in my moto circle without me even realizing it.
