84 to Skyline to Highway 9 to Santa Cruz, then take 1 back into city. Always enjoy this loop.

Ride all the way around San Francisco Bay. It's about 250 miles and no bridge tolls if you do it clockwise. You go across 237 at the bottom of the bay and 37 at the top. With a little creativity you can avoid most freeway riding, like taking Redwood, Palmomares, Calaveras through the East Bay and various interesting roads through the Santa Cruz mountains.

I had a route for it somewhere, but don't have time to track it down right now. I've done this twice. It's an interesting ride with quite a variety of roads and microclimates. :cool

Greenhorn this info will not help with your ride today but.....

I bought a book at one of the shows, some of the best money I have ever spent on motorcycling. I am very thrifty and feel this 60 dollars was well with it.
The book can be bought on line from their web site but it also lists dealers who sell it. I recommend going to their web site find someone near you who sells it and go this morning, buy it and then plan your route.

"Destination Highways - Northern California"
It lists almost every road starting from the northern state line down to the Santa Cruz Mountains. It rates the road for fun level as well as the condition of the road, degree of difficulty. It has cautions to look for. The book is very complete. I have used it dozen of times to plan one day rides that I would have never found without it. The book is spiral bound and the pages a tough glossy material.

No I have no affiliation just a very pleased customer.

If they ever make a book for Southern California, I will buy it.
