Little Polecat Enduro

Jen and I tried to ride the Little Polecat enduro last Sunday. It was our first attempt to a "real" enduro. Long story short, we got our butts kicked big time. Lots of gnarly slippery stuff with slippery rocks and roots everywhere making easy climbs very difficult. I had to ride Jen's bikes several times, which is very unusual, she normally rides anything... We showed up at the 3rd checkpoint with 130 mins late. They said "game over". We were taken back with a group of 7 riders to the staging area. Total racing miles: 12!!!

We will ride more gnarly stuff, get better at it and try again! :x

In one of the climbs I tried to ride around Jen in the bushes, and I looped the 450 going over a log. I reshaped my rear fender. After that I got all the mud fly on my helmet/back/butt.

Uh, Pierre, you might want to try throwing on a new tire before your next enduro attempt;)

Do you have an 18" rear wheel? If so, trials tires work great in the rocks at Deer Creek. They make wet roots, rocks and log crossings a non-issue. Eric finished 2nd in B-Vet last year at the PoleCat on a trials tire that had just seen 10 gnarly days in Utah.
It worked great.

You noticed huh? I have a new Maxxix IT laying around in the garage but I just wanted to keep my worn tire a little longer, it helps me getting used to reduced traction and getting better in those conditions (or so I thought). I will definitely make sure I have fresh knobbies before the next one! Thanks Tami! :thumbup ;)

Could have been worse, like the 90 degrees sun inside the poison oak and thorns on Troll trail following Carl. Why are my arms all red:laughing

Polecat results

Joebar,

check the results of the Polecat.

I thought Jennifer rode the event with you. If she has a similar score to yours she could just squeeze in as third in C-women !

Did you hand in that scorecard ?

Yeah we figured she would be in the top 10 since we only saw 4-5 women. Yes we rode together the whole time and no we did not return the score cards... We will next time when we finish it! :teeth

Joebar,

always hand in your scorecard, there are enduros where nobody but a few finish out of each class. The game is getting as far as possible in some cases !

See the Quicksilver this year as example, if you made it somehow past that mudbog you were already in the top overalls.

Another benefit is that the club has you accounted for which is important too.

Pierre, Jennifer, I'm just glad that you entered and did a great job trying. I live vicariously through you, lol. Seriously, that race is notorious for being pretty gnarly, I'm proud of you for giving it a go.

I guess we all know who the sissy lala is, eh? :laughing

You should have taken along a camera man, and made a "Dust to Glory" type film about your first race effort!
