Listen to your gut.

Before leaving the house today I got lazy about wearing my boots. For a short ride around town I thought my regular hiking boots would be good.

Damn decision almost got me Fucked up. Dang shoelace got caught on the shifter pretty tight and almost had to pull over to dislodge it.
It was so awkward because it got caught in a way that wouldn't let me up or downshift.

Should have listened to that voice in my head telling me to wear the right boots.

You almost had to pull over?! The horror!

Maybe you can find solace with the Barfer who scuffed his ballet slippers on his shifter.

Wasn't in an area where I felt like pulling over. Bad shoulder with gravel run off.

I don't usually ride with laces on my boots, but when I do, my gut tells me to tuck those damn things in before riding in them.

Have had to pull over too many times to fix laces that have gotten caught on the shifter. Luckily I haven't dropped a bike because of it. It's happened enough that I rarely go out without boots on anymore (even going a mile down the road to the store).

BTDT.... It could happen on my 300 if I wore tennis shoes or something.. Never had it happen with anything else. My 636 is designed in a way where it doesn't catch laces too... Riding boots are the way to go!

I think you got that backwards, I think the shifter got scuffed. I will take a ballet dancer over a football player for pure grit and toughness.

I can lane split!!
Had the same exact thing happen to me on my left foot! I still ride with regular shoes for around the block, but now I always make sure my shoelaces are tucked in. Hasn't happened yet (2yrs).

Never had a lace get caught, but for me it was seeing someone lose their sneakers sliding down the road.

Being in the AARP age, the benefits of velcro know no boundaries :laughing

Touring..to work
Some riding boots still use laces. The flap is supposed to keep laces from going somewhere it shouldn't.

Do it safely and replace the laces with bungee laces. You can adjust the snugness and cut off the excess. Its so much more easier to just slip on the boots and have them always adjusted perfectly.
