Leading edge of sipe worn unevenly - rear tire

This is a 2 part question.

Bike: Street Triple
Shock: 2008 CBR600RR rear shock (was swapped in to give damping control)
Setup: Catalyst 3 years ago
Tire: PR4 - ~10k miles

I realize this tire is getting old, but the tire wear on the sides is odd. I'm getting a raised trailing edge on the sipe and a much more worn leading edge, mostly on the sides of the tire. Very much like what's in this thread

In the photo that shows 'too fast' rebound damping. The rear has always felt like the rebound is pretty harsh even after a setup, but handles pretty well overall.

OK - so the suspension settings in the suspension manual describes the clicker changes from 'soft' to 'hard' - how does this reconcile/translate to 'fast' or 'slow'? I included the relevant page from the FSM.

2) Should I even bother adjusting the setup or is this a common enough issue to not bother?

screw in -> more damping -> slower
screw out -> less damping -> faster

dont bother. u wont see improvements on an old tires and ull never know if the change works. IMO, tune rebound for balance and grip. i like the shock rebound a little faster than the fork rebound on the street.

screw the rebound adjuster all the way in, counting how many turns or clicks. then back it out, but set halfway between where it was before and all the way in. so if it was set at 8 clicks from full in, set it to 4 clicks from full in, and see if it feels better or worse. if it's better, do the same thing, so in the example it would be at 2 clicks from full in. if it's worse, go the other direction.

i probably don't need to say it, but use the same road / corner to test the changes in an effort to minimize variables

Yes, stock valving from a 600rr shock. They have 11kg/mm springs on them. The preload is pretty high as it's a little soft for me.

I bumped the rebound damping up a full turn to slow it down. We'll see how it looks on the next tire, this one is about done anyway.... now the debate between a pirelli angel gt or one of the the new roadsmarts.
