Got hit by a car yesterday so I'll be house ridden for a bit. Any advice or ideas on passing the time and staying productive and positive?

order books on how to do certain projects. I remember when I broke my right arm and right leg I couldn't do crap. I just bought a few books like how to build a deck and how to do the belts and valves on my bike as well as others. I was ready with notes by the time I was healed up and started each project. Plus I became a master at Playstation 2 games.

Study for your ham radio license? Learn electronics? Re-read every Steven King novel? Spam Yelp with a bunch of BS reviews? Find the deep nether regions of the web?

Watch Japanese porn? Smoke copious amounts of weed?

I could go on for pages like this.. I've been stuck in bed more than once from MC accidents.

Thanks again for all the advice. Already started a nice mixture of literature, march madness, poetry, you tube, porn, knitting, music, doodling, and self medication!

Sorry to hear. I am just coming off a knee rlacement and I did go a little stir crazy. Set the DVR to catch some old movies... In the middle of the night. I had a hell of a time sleeping so having something recorded of some interest was good.

Reno Williams, tombstone, quick and the dead.. I ended up with a major problem with my eye and barfing became tough. I was almost on pure lockdown for three weeks. Even stepping outside finally was glory.

Reading is good of course, but I really could not for long before I was just exhausted. thank goodness my eyesight is good again. I did some crazy hour barfing too.. Amazing to see who is online at 2 or 4 AM.

Get some friends to visit. Having a bud come over to watch a supercross race was great.
Hell I recorded NASCAR races and actually watched them. Every damn lap..

Hope you find things that make you feel normal too... Just getting a cup of joe was huge for me. The wife went out of her way to go pick one up from Peets... A little piece of normal.

Good luck. Heal quick.

I had to wait two weeks plus to shower. :green

I got one in then had some new shit come up and then had to wait Another week.
Certainly makes showering more special now.

Good to hear you got company and finding some good.

:port to a full recovery.

The hardest part is the emotional issues of finding yourself unable to do simple things--even like tying your hair back, clipping nails, wiping your butt, bathing, opening a water bottle (I started leaving a pair of channel locks on the kitchen counter)--all of the little stuff we don't think about when we are healthy.
That's been the pisser for me; learning how to wipe w/wrong hand wrong side for the 1st time in your life is horrid. Wifie is helping w/toenails; but she figures I can do my own hands -but it's a bear when fingies don't work/don't hang onto clipper. She's really losing patience & I can't blame her...

Showers she got me one of them long brushes (~26" or so?), & it works fine excepting when it gets slippery/soapy my left hand w/numbed fingers can't hang onto it. Hits the floor every time!! :mad This crap really sux the cosmic wab man.

Some of the most basic stuff becomes intolerable. Luckily my eyes are coming back slowly from the multiple surgeries. I can close one eye & read for an hour or so; then the migraine forces me to quit. Watching tv is painful too so lots of times just laying in bed listening to silence. Sux....

In the meantime the bike's gathering dust in garage. Now on a "Non-OP" registration, & dropped the insurance as figured it would be six months or more after surgeries b4 I can ride it. Springs sprung, & the urge is strong, but I still wait, & wait, & wait......grrrrr!

sorry to hear of your mishap...being on the mend sucks for sure..the worst I think is the pain meds..they mess me up anytime I have to take those things,,,when I crashed I was so fricken cranky and then my boyfriend broke up with me and he didnt even wait until I had a new bike..the internet of course is a great time escape, reading , retail therapy,,,catch up on little things around the house that you normally dont have time for etc...Hope you are back to normal and fully recovered soon

hey Dave sorry to hear about the day to day struggles. Sounds like you had it worse than me but I hope the wifey stays patient and helps through your recovery!!
damn Fly that's heartless!! I'm trying to use as little of the meds as possible. have too many friends and acquaintances who've gotten too "comfortable" with them.

good job on being careful with the meds...I can relate to the friends that have gotten too comfortable on the meds and that is sad to see..I know of one right now and I said something to him but he is in denial :(
