Kayak Fishing

I've been browsing a few kayaks. The Hobie's are really nice, but you can pick up a used boat Jon boat for the cost of one. There are some good sized, good eating fish in the kelp beds.

I have here in SD using a borrowed rig. Def fun. Flylining a live bait off a yak just seems to work so well.

However I ended up buying a 12ft inflatable dinghy instead. Cost was comparable w a used motor. But my range is greater and I can take 3 other ppl fishing.

When I was in Baja someone lent me their Hobie pedal kayak. I've been convinced that they're worth the astronomical price ever since. The damn things move so quickly with so little effort, with your hands free for fishing at the sake time. I've been looking for a used one for 3 years now, but it seems that no one ever sells them. There's a lumber store in grass valley that rents them, and every so often they sell their rentals, but I've not been able to time it right so far.

The fish were so thick I could have gotten out and walked down there on the sea of Cortes. Never seen anything like it.
