When living in Germany I would commonly have tourists come up to me needing directions back to their hotel. More than once the only information they had was that the hotel was on Einbahnstrasse. I just didn't have the heart to tell them of their mistake and feigned ignorance.

In Maine I asked directions. What I got was; "Turn left at the next traffic light, go two blocks, you're there."

Next traffic light was FIFTEEN miles down the road.
