Hey guys,

I just want to let you all know about a trackday coming up on June 4th. It will be at Thunderhill and cost is $185. It is being sponsored by The CanyonStrafers. More info can be found here.

http://www.canyonstrafers.com/trackdays/index.htm

I'm not trying to "steal" anyone away from any of the other trackday announcements on the forum, I just want to let everyone know that the trackday exists in case its more convenient date for someone else. Looks like a few of you have already been out to Thunderhill and from the looks of the pics, you guys had a blast on May 7th. We were there the day before!

I know it can be a pain to get days off from work etc. so if you can get away on June 4th please let me know.

Right now we have a very low rider count so it will be pretty wide open.

I hope some of you can join us. I'd also like to join you guys on Speedyard's trackdays if there are any more openings. Who do I need to contact about the July 10th day?

Hope to meet some of you guys at the track! For those of you who've never been out on a track, I highly recommend it. Although you will probably get addicted and end up spending every last $$$ just to get out to one. :)

BTW, this website rocks! Steve is doing an awesome job!

Thanks!

Hello Jel,
Thank you for the post, it is great to see more trackday coordinators! Could you please tell me how many people generally attend and if you include food or accommedations. What kind of people do you have attending since it is an open event.

I noticed Mr.Crash is one of the instructors and some other AFMer's! Do they offer instruction or do you pay?

I would like to go to a day and see how it is! Maybe sometime late in the season. Hope to meet you and your staff soon.

Hey Ed,

Thanks for the reply. I really don't have a good number to give you for the amount of trackday attendees. Generally its in the 30-40 person range. The most was 43 and the least was 22 (our last one on May 6th). We haven't been doing that many trackdays as a whole as we just started last year for pretty much the same reason you started yours. I wanted to rent out the track so me and my buddies can go and have a blast.

We don't provide any food, drinks, or instruction (except for the upcoming NOVICE ONLY day). Its the only way we can keep the price low. We're keeping the same price as last year even though Thunderhill raised its rates. I'm not trying to compete with Keigwin or some of the other trackday hosts who provide breakfast, lunch, suspension tuners, and instructors. In fact I don't see how they can do it and still break even. We just want to provide an OPEN track environment for a decent price.

Most of the guys that show up at our trackdays are experienced track riders and seasoned street riders. Occasionally a first timer or two would join us and that's no problem. I emphasize safety, courtesy, and responsible riding at my trackdays. Being we have an open format we have to account for the differences in skill level, but everyone copes and everyone gets MAXIMUM tracktime.

Mr. Crash is indeed one of our trackday "big dogs" along with a few other AFM racers. I don't pay them and they pay full price to attend the trackday. They are there to answer questions and help out if they can but I don't ask them to do any instruction. However, at the NOVICE ONLY day on August 28th we will have a few guys out there INSTRUCTING. This is NOT a school but more of an open trackday with guys there to help you out with anything in regards to riding the track.

Please do join us sometime. I'd very much like to meet and talk to a fellow organizer. Hopefully I'll be able to join one of your days soon as well.

Thanks,
