Is it legal to drive with your left foot?

Block My Way
I broke my tib and fib while hiking in Hawaii. A truly gruesome break. Luckily had cel service so I got a helicopter ride, and great care. I flew back and had a bunch of plates and screws installed here in the bay.

It’s been exactly one week and I can’t stand not driving. More specifically - my wife’s driving is going to kill me. :laughing I can’t find anywhere that says it’s illegal drive (an automatic obviously) with your left. Any insight would be appreciated.

I used to have a habit of braking with my left foot.
I doubt anywhere in the world its illegal to use one foot over the other anymore than left or right arm for steering.

No clue, but it wouldn't make any sense. Of course anything to do with the dmv means you're right to ask! This would be a fairly easy transition for me as I two-foot drive most of the time, so I'd feel comfortable doing it, even if it weren't legal.

When I asked in the LEO forum about driving one armed I was told there's no law specifically banning it.

I’m not sure about the legality of it but I would be concerned with the lack of muscle memory and tendency to go back to the other foot.

I think your surgeon has most to say, say like your doc says no driving, and you ignore it and get into a car accident while driving.

I don't think insurance is gonna side with you.

I was no driving walking using crutches for 2-3 months after ankle surgery per Dr orders, I couldn't fly either and ruined a Hawaii vacay and only got like 50% of my funds refunded.

I would liked to be in Hawaii with crutches to save 1k but not my choice

What I liked most about my old Toyota was the cruise control stalk right there where you'd hold the wheel with your right hand. Within easy reach of my finger I would use that to speed up or slow down more than using my foot on the throttle.

I'd be very surprised if your insurance company could deny a claim based on that.

If your lack of control due to the injury causes the crash, it sounds like it's your fault. No different than if your lack of control due to drinking coffee (or hell, driving drunk - DUI doesn't void your insurance, or determine fault. yes, you can get a DUI and not be at fault).

Lol you dunno what your talking about, the Dr fills something out for your insurance, if that box is checked your not gonna be covered, till that timeline passes, nothing stops you from asking your Dr to remove that though

How does your doctor even know who your car insurance company is?
