IRS phone number with an actual person?

I've been faithfully paying taxes for 36 years. Now they are not only screwing around with my refund, but they're calling up my 2015 filing as well.

Do any BARFers have a number or "magic code" to get an actual live IRS rep on the phone? I've tried the Google advisories, no luck.

Call your local office not the national number.

Same here.

I had the State of CA audit my HOH status last year. I filled out paperwork, sent it back, all was well.

Just checked my refund status from CA and got this bullshit.

"We received your 2016 California Income Tax return on: Saturday, April 15, 2017.

Your tax return requires additional processing time.

Please allow 3 months from the date you filed your return to complete processing. If you received a notice from us requesting additional information, please respond to continue the processing of your return. Allow 2 months from the date you mailed your response for a determination to be made.

We appreciate your patience."

My advice is to just find an accountant. Last time I had an issue the IRS person wasnt helpful at all and was either clueless or didn't give a shit. Went to a tax accountant and in 30 minutes I was getting a refund instead of paying a couple thousand.

I called them the other morning and got through in ten minutes. When that call got dropped I connected with a human in another 7 minutes. Not too bad...

I had some IRS issues after I retired, and found quite by accident there was an IRS field office in Bullhead City. I gathered up papers and walked in, waited for two others then my turn. Scary intensity from that agent, but the issue got sorted. I had no idea that there were offices in such small towns
