ignore list

is there a way not to see the threads someone put up. Adding them to the ignore list still shows the thread the person started.

The ignore list only hides the specific content of a post by that person--you still see that that person posted, you just don't see the post text itself. It's the same thing with a thread. If the person on your ignore list is the OP of a thread, then the OP doesn't show up for you. If someone else quotes his or her post, then you will see it. (I think...I put one person on ignore briefly many years ago and I don't think that I have that capability now, so I'm going from memory.)

I'm not sure what the intent is here. Do you want that person to disappear comletely for you on BARF? We don't have that ability. Depending on what you want to do, we might be able to guide you to take actions that will help.

quoted for truth. i have a couple on ignore, and it'll still show that they posted, with a note "this post is hidden because (username) is on your ignore list"....same for a new thread; the thread is there, but no post content from the ignored user.

I think I know what the intent is. Yeah and btw I understand you don't have that ability, the VBB doesn't support it probably.

His intent is to not see the new threads that people on his ignore list start. Because the ignore list makes you not see posts, but if people blog post and start 4 threads a day about their everyday stuff and/or news , they're still quite visible in the forum's first page

I figured it was something like that. Can't do much to help you. If you are subscribed to a certain sub-forum and are constantly getting updated about someone's thread starts, then I'd recommend unsubscribing from that.

This is it. I don't know the poster and have nothing against him other than he makes the titles to interesting. thanks for the info.

If you use Firefox, there is an add-on that will make them disappear completely.

heh. The irony is golden in this particular case, albeit only from my point of view (and maybe a few others also interested in ignore lists with a non-empty intersection)

Now, if you supergeeks could get the ignore to also work for pieces of posts starting with
Code:
[/QUOTE=<username in ignore list>... (whatever the correct syntax actually is)
, then we'd be in business :teeth

You might be able to reverse engineer a re-processed version of BARF, one where said individuals simply do not exist; but the work involved would be .....a lot!
