Party @ Ragged Point Inn & Resort for the Hwy 1 reopening.

Band Roughhouse from 11 to 4, food and raffle too.

Anyone planning to be the first to scrub in new sections of pavement from either end?

https://www.raggedpointinn.com

I have nothing to gain on this post, just a PSA for Barf.

I caught the local news last nite, road work with traffic control will continue, still have gravel sections, not the fresh pavement I was lead to believe.
Due to open @ 10:am 7/20/18

So, I had to find out for myself, , ,

A Sunday ride up the ol' 1.
Cambria, to my final turn around point, Palo Colorado Rd. above "Bronson bridge" and back.
First pix, one lane road with stop lights, the one spot that was dirt until this week.
No dirt, all paved.

Second pix, an inland shot of the bridge.

An address sign on a little road thru cedar trees just off 1, where I turned back south

Second pix, traffic stopped in the Sur, some guy hauling golf carts rammed a stopped for a left turner in his lane in the tight stuff

Last one, goaty Santa Rosa creek rd. back to 46 and Paso

About 260 miles, every town along the coast packed, it was an event.

The central coast is open

The north end of the bridge, a cluster F&$* both sides, causing a mile backup of stop & go SB

That other thing caused a backup of maybe three miles of NB traffic below Big Sur

I was headed that way on that Friday to do big sur ,and hoping to make it to ragged point , but my helmet was giving me a headache, so I stopped by cycle gear SJ and left 870.00 lighter with a new quieter helmet , then took 156 toward 1 and OMG the coast was very cold and foggy, stupid me I thought it would be warm , so I had summer gear ,And it was getting to late to make back before dark. I turned around and just ended up doing a loop through the salinus wind up and down 101 ,I had to do something Gonzales anyhow. It maybe just as well I never went that way with that big sur traffic that would have not been fun.

You could have bought a whole case of earplugs - 200 pairs - for under 25 bucks. :laughing
