Howdy from Boulder Creek

Hello BARF Fellas :thumbup

I recently run into this forum because of looking information for my most recent christmas gift, a Honda Nighthawk 750, which is going to be my commuter vehicle.

I have been into motorcycles since I was 19 (about 16 years ago). Mostly little bikes including some dual sport like my very loved Yamaha DT125 but this one is a dream coming true.

Plenty to learn but I will take one step at a time. Actually I am looking for the best way to keep my bike out of the rain so I am open to ideas on how to build a cheap and quick shed for my bike.

Thanks for letting me be part of this forum.

I'm pretty sure in boulder creek anything goes so you can build something fairy cheap. Lol just kidding, I work with quite a few people from boulder creek so I hear the the stories about over there.

Welcome to Barf show us some pictures of your bike, where do you commute to?

Hi George!

Well, I just figured out how to upload a pic as my avatar (for some reason I can't upload pictures to the posts), so there it is, under those giant redwoods.

My commuting is from here to "downtown" Boulder Creek and to Santa Cruz. Nothing really long distance... yet. I haven't ride much the bike apart that the 250 miles from Bakersfield to its new home...when we bought it. I am rebuilding the forks so I hope by the next week, it would be all ready to go!

Been around the block
Welcome. The old adage Cheap, Fast, Effective - choose 2 comes to mind. Ha!

Depending on what cheap and fast is to you, a storage shed from Home Depot would be the easy button - but figure you're into that $1k to $2k.

On the cheaper but more manual front, a simple structure with some 2x4 wouldn't be hard to knock together. Plywood sides and a plywood with tar paper roof would be cheapest.

Cheaper down from that, you could do a "lean to" against an existing structure. Walls/roof could even be tarps, depending on how long you want this to last and what kind of weather protection you want (tarps aren't going to survive really high winds or hail).

Lots of options there, really depends on your budget, wants and construction ability.

Hey - I'm in BC too!

I'm on an 02 BMW GSA (black/yellow) or a 17 Road King (silver). I'll keep an eye out for ya. Or, shoot me a PM and we can grab a bite at the Pizza joint or something sometime.

exploring!
I use an 80" BBQ cover to keep my bikes out of the rain. $45 on eBay. That should do you until you get a shed built.

Oh, and welcome! :)

Hope you enjoy barf.

The likely culprit of not being able to load photos is our size limitation. We don't have auto resize ...so there is a limit of about 2k x 2k. If you are trying to upload pics from your phone try cropping one down and see if it will load. Works for me.

Hello Turkey,

I am sorry for the very late response. I have been very busy and even neglecting my very loved hobby of astronomy. Well, I live up on 236, like four miles from "downtown". Working at BCE the night shift...maybe we can meet somewhere in downtown?
