How often do you polish your riding boots?

I finally got around to applying some shoe polish to my Sidi riding boot. This is the first time. I know that I still had my ST2 when I bought them and I sold that in 2010, so apparently I polish my boots about once every ten years.

The heel of one of them was coming loose, so I used some Shoe Goo to reattach it. We'll see how that works. I think I used Aquaseal to do the same for my Gaerne boots. I should probably polish those too.

Being stuck at home is helping me get around to a few things I've been putting off for a long, long time.

Frankly, that has never dawned on me.
That so far down on my to-do list I doubt I'll ever see it. :laughing

My street boots get the polish when they get resoled.
Maybe 4 times now, leather is starting to crack a little.

Dirt boots, I did try to blacken the white parts with shoe polish, didn't soak in though.

My first 2 pairs - never. It didn't occur to me that they needed polishing, except to wash off the mud when it was too much.

I used leather conditioner about 3 times on my Daytona boots since around 2016. I thought it might help water proofing the boots, but not sure if it did. The Daytona boots are supposedly Goretex lined and water proof, but started to leak after a couple of years.

Never. My Sidi boots have been used by me for 14-15 years now. Soles will need replacement soonish. Never thought to polish faux leather.

I don't polish but I condition both my high quality leather boots every season.

Clean, inspect, then condition/moisturize.

My other riding boots I leave them to be.

Sidi boots are plastic so no polish needed. Except my adventure boots are Gore Tex and not supposed to be polished with shoe shine.

I put SnoSeal on them in the fall and Kiwi polish in the spring. I've had them into the cobbler a few times for soles and minor stitching. He gives them a good coat of mink oil while they're in the shop.

think these boots are made by Sidi for Aerostich ...?

try to Sno-Seal and spit polish with Kiwi polish before multi-day winter trips.
like to think the Sno-Seal keeps the rain away ... so once or twice a year.
The Sno-Seal does not very long, for me.

these have been resoled once by the cobbler in Berkeley,
who also fixed the worn out lining where the heel had destroyed it with a big inside the boot patch ...

love them, but basically work-boot level foot protection.

think they are still waterproof ... well, waterproof here in CA, anyway. :laughing:angel

Never. First pair of boots were some Astar SMX boots. They're around 12 years old now and confined to city duty as the soles are nearly worn through. Current all around boots are Sidi Crossfire TAs, all plastic and synthetic and I think a little dirt makes them look good. I gave them a wipe down after the CABDR this past fall and I really want to deal with the squeaky joints, otherwise nothing.

I clean, but don't polish per say.

My typical is to get a new pair every 3 years or so.
Mostly because my wife asks what I want for Christmas or a birthday and I like white boots. I figure they contrast my clothing so if I tumble down the road they might make me more visible and I have liked white boots since Evel Knievel days... the pic below were customs I had made because nobody made white boots.. my fellow racers thought I was nuts... but in 3 years or so later they were offered by most manufacturers so I was ahead of my time. :laughing

Is this a trick question?:twofinger
It might be a rhetorical question...

I figure most of the rest of you are like me and never do more than put the boots on and take them off. However, mine look almost new with a new coat of black shoe polish on there. The area that touches the shifter was especially worn and it seemed to help.

Some years ago I heard Helmot's Helmut would replace leaking Daytonas. Maybe you could contact the American distributor re warranty?

My Alpinestars pictured have worn out. The top wears through from upshifting. Maybe I should get a Harley so I don't have to do that.

I have gone all Sidi now. I think I have four pair. Dirtbike sportbike motard poseur... i just replaced the soles on my Sidi Crossfire SRS Mega Extreme Turbo Digital dirtbike boots. I wore down a couple fastner heads that made the change out challenging.

I prolly washed and conditioned some boots, but no, I have never polished.

I gotta up my poseur skilz.

My street boots let water in on last Sundays morning ride. Once they dried I found what’s left of the sno-seal I put on there a few years ago and did it again. Never occurs to me to do this until I get wet feet.
