How much would you pay for this DR650?

It's a yellow 2002 w/ 1,500 miles on it (yup, 1,500).

Everything looks stock, including the original tires (so they would probably need to be replaced). The chain is rusty from sitting outside in SF.

I felt all the controls and everything seems to work just fine but I've never ridden the bike, yet.

here is the kicker, the owner can't find the paper work. There is some sort of paper tag on their from a few years ago and is says VIN: #########HOT. Hot usually means stolen, but I can't imagine that is the case here....?

I'm looking for a adventure bike and this one has been sitting by my place for months

Thoughts? I'm mechanically inclined and not afraid of some DMV paperwork if it's going to save me substantial coin.

Assuming all the back fees are taken care of, I'd say about $2.5K is a fair price. Maybe a bit less since it's been neglected and needs the chain, new tires, and a good carb cleaning.
