Retired but have a 5th and 4th-grade granddaughters. Both are doing remote school. My daughter can work from home and so she is home for the girls. I know this is not possible for many parents. Her Husband teaches High School in a rural district. They gave out Chromebooks and mobile hotspots. First day of school some students hotspots did not work. IT found the parents have been streaming movies on them and used up the bandwidth assigned to the hot spot.

My other daughter teaches college in San Antonio TX, her husband teaches at University or Texas in San Marcos. They have not started but it looks like it will be hybred teaching some online and some labs.

I’m lucky in that my youngest is a senior in high school this year so she’s pretty independent at this point. Here in Pleasanton school starts next Tuesday and will be remote using Chromebooks and Zoom. Each of her classes is 30 minutes long with a 5 minute break in between each one. They get a 15 minute break after 3rd period then school is over at 12:45. The students can then do their assignments and the teachers will stay on line until 3:00 to help if a student gets stuck on something. Sounds ok in theory but we’ll see what happens.

My wife runs a daycare and has kept a select few whose parents work from home and are trusted to SIP, stay clean, wear masks, etc. She has 1 kid who will be a 1st grader and when the babies are napping she’s going to help him get through his schoolwork. The parents are very appreciative to say the least. They realize my wife is not trained to teach but at least she can keep him on track during the day.
I really don’t know what other parents with young children are going to do. I sure couldn’t work with my kid during the day when I myself am working online, taking calls, etc. And at night everyone is tired. The older ones are more self-reliant, it’s the younger ones I’m concerned about.

My daughter will be on campus, students not, doing her remote learning gig.

I coach high school sports. Our students distance learning begins soon. No fall sports, my team has been moved to spring and plan to somehow coach both boys' and girls' teams simultaneously. Match schedules show no conflicts. Four contests a week, no practice!

Having fall off has me mulling a return to football.

Just my son, my two daughters are through college.

My son starts in 1-1/2 weeks remote then in-person when they go back to that, not sure when that will be. I've worked from home for years and my wife is retired, so we're good from that standpoint, though we'll be happy when he's able to attend class and get back to furthering his track career.

With the twins we were already in the process of going with an online school for one and she got accepted and so that is how she is doing it. The other one opted to do remote school with a company the district contracted with and will do that for at least the first semester and we will decide later on what to do with her for the second semester if she decides to do remote or decides to try going back.
