It actually doesn't take very long until your title changes to "rookie". Something like 25 posts? You can also change your title in your user profile.

You can change that line yourself in the User Control Panel.

Oh. For real answers, what they said ^^. AFAI can tell it automatically changes depending on your number of posts: Newbie, Rookie, Veteran, dunno what else.
