Kalle’s ‘92 FX-R had a dead battery (insert H-D v Indian rivalry joke here), so off like a herd of turtles on his ‘48 Chief ... we’re in Isleton now ... :ride

Glad your back at it John.

Have fun :ride

Good to have a back up Indian from the 40's. Have a great trip.

:thumbup

Thanks guys ... yes, always pays to have more than one arrow (or moto) in one's quiver ... :laughing

Here’s the Relive link to our Saturday route:

ridersmeeting.jpg

We met up with six other riders in Sacramento on Saturday morning, and had a brief, Covid inspired, rider's meeting ...

The idea was that this ride would be sort of a replacement for our annual Moto Melee and Nor Cal TT vintage rides, which were both canceled this year due to the pandemic ... we were kind of relaxed about what "vintage" meant ... in the pic are wowens's 2001 FZ1, Norcalslowpoke's Moto Guzzi and Joe's XR-650L ...

scott.jpg

Norcalslowpoke was our ringleader and host ... it was his idea to organize a substitute ride, big thanks to him! :thumbup

Norcalslowpoke's fun route on Saturday lead us to the ghost town of Forest City, which I'd never been to ...

kallethumb.jpg

From Forest City we had some dirt adventures on Forest Road 10 ... bikes were thrown down the road, and bikes needed to be fixed:

quad.jpg

the rough road caused a short that made the '48 Chief's forward progress halt for a brief minute ... we were a bit of a road block for the locals, who did ask if we needed any help.

rolling again ... :ride

we wound up in Sierra City on Saturday night, at the Wild Plum campground ...

campgroup.jpg

and happy to be there after a hot, smokey day ... :angel

On Sunday Norcalslowpoke lead us to the Johnsville cemetery. He had told us to be prepared for a short, steep hike, but that it would be worth the effort ...

waterfall.jpg

As usual, he was right! we spent a few hours here in our vintage-greybeard-geezer moto-packable camp chairs ... we were joined by a group of hippy-young-women at the end of the day, one of whom asked us who owned the "cool Moto Guzzi" she'd seen in the parking lot?

the rest of us decided the Norcalslowpoke had won the day ... :laughing

campfire.jpg

We finished off the day with dsjanssen's marvelous Hobo stew ... each of us contributed an ingredient or two and we threw them all in a big borrowed pot that we cooked on a borrowed Coleman stove ... pure bliss ...

wowens and flyingdutch73 laughing at kalle's BARF Baja lies around the campfire ... :toothless

we all decided we needed to do this again, next year!
see you around the campfire ... :ride

I too noticed the "cool Moto Guzzi" !

:thumbup

very cool Moto Guzzi, hippy-young-women are always correct, ime ... :toothless

norcalslowpoke's features a nickel-plated gas tank ... maybe he'll chime in and tell us what year it is ...

Great stuff John! Looks like a bunch of fun. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Eric B.! :wave
Your SRX will probably be AMCA eligible, soon ... :toothless

Yes, think we had five BARF Baja riders on the ride ... you and Cabrito would've fit right in on your big KTMs (especially the carb'd one, ha) ... :teeth

Looks like you had a great time! All of the moto events getting canceled has been a bummer, but it's been right thing to do.

That dirt road looks fun! And you avoided the epic rains of last year's NCTT. :)
