Saw this on craigslist the owner has it up on ADVrider also. Nice bike it reminds me of the KLR650 or the transalp. I guess it's like an adventure riding version of the XL600 dual sport. Imagine riding the Paris Dakar with this old beast. It has tubless spoked rims and check out that little storage box it is locked in place with the helmet lock. Interesting piece of engineering.

I rode the work as an on-road commuter for a while but the grey primer paint was starting to feel boring and I really wanted to paint it.

I setup a paint booth in my garage, and I was able to get nice results using automotive 4k clear-coat, and a decal set from Italy.

Ya don't see those in the USA much.

I have a plated XR600R.
It'll be going up for sale soon too.

I saw that when they firsts posted it. It is super cool. The wheels and the starter motor and super cool, and the body work gives me warm fuzzies. Me likely for sure. It needs to be in someone's livingroom and ridden a few times each year. Maybe I should start a gofundme page to save this poor machine. :laughing

Why do you say tubeless, what makes you confident. My BMW spoked have the spokes right at the edges of the rim, so no holes where the tire sits.

Those rims on the xl600 have a flange in the center of the rim hoop that the spokes attach to. If you look closely you can see them in the pics. The flange is verticle and the spokes go through the flange and make a 90 degree bend to the hub.

You are right, requires quite some zoom on the phone to see it.

The wheels are trick. I've only seen them on a trails bike and I've never seen a starter on a XL600 -only the 650.
