Lots of people said there needed to be a middleweight between the CB300R and the CB1000R. So here it is. Maintaining the design language and looking pretty good.

Neo Cafe? Looks like a standard motorcycle much like the FZ-09/07, SV650, ER-6N and many others. I'm glad Honda is using 4 cylinders to bring some HP to the game.

Numbers McGee
I guess you've not ridden many 4 cylinder Hondas then?

No, but looking at the numbers, this has 95hp while the CB1000R has only 109hp. I'd imagine the latter is much torquier due to similar hp output but an extra 350cc.

I could be wrong, but 350cc isn't nothing. It appears, on paper, the 650 is a top end motor and the 1000 would be more "chunky." Is this not accurate?

I've never been a fan of small-ish detuned I4s. I'd rather have a twin, as they're quite a bit narrower.

109? That's the old model at the rear wheel. Current CB1000R at crank is 143.5. Gotta measure like-for-like.

Yep. That's what got me.
....and don't forget the less popular cb550 super sport.

I like it. Was reading the comments and it occurred to me how few Japanese bikes I have ridden. RC-51 being the only Honda.

For some reason, I've heard the 650 motor referred to as a modern VFR. I can't imagine why, but so I've heard.

Always liked the faired version.

Arguably, the only notable sport bike Honda has made in the past 20 or so years, so you're not missing much.

Having ridden a CB650F, which shares this engine, and yes, that pipe, I found it to be a really well tuned bike. Honda has a way of building bikes that feel like more than the sum of the parts. This thing definitely looks great, and I am a believer in that engine (which says something, as I am not an I4 fan).
Something that gets forgotten about on many bikes is gearing. So many sport and supersport bikes are geared very tall in first gear. Then the rest of the stack is super tight. That makes a shitty street experience for me. The 650F doesn't have that trait.

There have been a few that I would like to get a ride in on but just never had the opportunity. Still would like an SP2 if I had the space.

I miss my SP1 sometimes. I still have one Honda with gear-driven cams (RVF400), so that fulfills my need for that. :)
